Old School Joint Of The Day: “Soul Sisters” – Finesse & Synquis

Been a minute since I gave the streets an “Old School Joint Of The Day” and this one popped up randomly when I was on YouTube so I was like let me share this with the masses. I used to really like this song back in the day and I remember my cousin Charles watching the vid and playing the song a lot. One common theme on a majority of my early hip hop memories will be my cousin Charles cause he was my link to it and my influence cause I just always had wanted to be cool like my big cousin. In the vid you’ll notice the dope into from VJ Ralph McDaniels and Video Music Box which everyone in the tri-state knows knows was a staple in hip hop back then. Look at the dances and the outfits, oh good times…good times indeed!

“40 Days Of Budden” DAY 4 (Revisited 1 Year After in 4 Days, 4 Blogs)

DAY 4: Well we have reached the final day, and again I just want to say thank you to any and everyone that checked in on the blogs it is much appreciated as this was by far my most favorite series of blogs I have done. Knowing that your favorite MC saw something you did in their honor is…well…an honor in itself, so I hope that I have helped maybe open some new ears to the homie Joe Budden as well as just helped those that already are fans like myself just take a trip through some amazing music. I may possibly do one more to highlight about 5 additional songs from over the past year that would have made the list but because I was being a lazy bastard and didn’t feel like re-doing it and adjusting the original so I just left it alone. But as always click on the links to go to the original posts with the exception of the #1 post because something was wrong with the original video that I posted and I can’t find it again so I will just post the song as the closer for the series…enjoy the ending:

#10 – Downfall

#9 – Three Sides To A Story

#8 – No Comment

#7 – Russian Roulette Freestyle

#6 – Good Enough

#5 – Dumb Out

#4 – Hello Expectations

#3 – Anti

#2 – Pray For Me

*** #1 – 10 Minutes ***

“now if everyone is depending on me, and I just stop……..then what the fuck happens???”Joe Budden

I didn’t have a link provided for this one because I had done a whole video with an explanation but something went wrong with a few of my YouTube vids and that was one of them so I will explain this one myself. Well what more can I say man, if I could rap these would have been damn near the same identical words I would have put on the paper because I can relate to pretty much everything in and out with this track. When I 1st got the album (his 1st) and I heard this song I was dealing with my Pops getting locked up again, being away from home, a pending breakup and all kinds of stuff and the chorus was just money because that’s how I was feeling, I just wanted 10 minutes sometimes just by myself with no one bothering me. I can’t really go into full detail without turning this blog entry into a whole book but this song is powerful to me and will ALWAYS be my favorite Joe Budden song and as a fan I thank him for this song more than any other. Those that have been following me as well know that my Pops is finally getting out of the joint in August so he has been in since before Budden’s 1st album dropped so it has been a minute but this song still bears that same meaning for me. I don’t think any other artist could have held my attention for the duration of a song like he did on this one…I mean about 6 minutes in I probably would have turned it off but I never can, it’s like once I start listening to it I have to hear it all the way through. And I will be honest about something as soon as I heard this song I said to myself and I think also to my boy Bryan that he is in my Top 5 after this and then through the years he has not only made his way but solidified that number 1 tie for my favorite MC wit……..ha ha you didn’t think I was gonna tell you did you, well most of you know who that other guy is but to those that don’t you will know once I drop the “40 Nights Of (Said Rapper Here)” to complete the “40 Days of Budden & 40 Nights Of (Unknown MC)”  blog series. But in closing I just want to again extend thanks to Ice and Unc for letting Joe know about the blog last year, to Joe for reading it and for the amazing music (keep doing your thing man, you still got that loyal fanbase and I am right here as a part of it), and most importantly I want to thank the fellow Joe Budden fans because you guys make me feel somewhat normal for being a “stan” as they say because I know other go ape shit for the music just as much as I do. And to everyone let’s do it one more time for Joe….”it’s……..It’s………..IT’S………IT’S THAT (yall finish the phrase)!!!!!!”

The best part about this whole thing is knowing that my favorite MC had a chance to see my appreciation, and enjoy it…thanks (now back to our regularly scheduled programming)

“40 Days Of Budden” DAY 3 (Revisited 1 Year After in 4 Days, 4 Blogs)

DAY 3: Alright so 2 days down just 2 more to go so let’s get right into it, here are numbers 20 through 11 (Just click on the links to go to the original posts):

#20 – Number 1

#19 – Who KilledHip Hop (Parts 1 – 3)

#18 – Forgive Me

#17 – Warfare

#16 – Focus (Featured Post For Day 3, Original Post Below)

This was the 1st song from Budden that I had heard, I was living in Atlanta and my boy Renard was playing that Def Jam fighting game and I saw this dude in a red hoodie named “Joe Budden” and I was like who is this cat, looked it up and found this song and I was like okay 1st off homie is from New Jerz so that’s a win since that’s the homestate so I gotta give him a chance and then I downloaded the track and was hooked. The beat is ill and lyrically Joe ripped and delivered perfectly with the flow of the song. This was the 1st taste of the greatness that we know of as JUMPOFF!!!!

“we pump diesel, I ain’t talking bout jeans and sneakers”

“jumpoff that nigga known to see me with at least 2 birds like Jack Tripper”

#15 – Thou Shall Not Fall

#14 – Unthinkable Freestyle

#13 – Sacred

#12 – She Wanna Know

#11 – Fire

DISCLAIMER: I know everyone isn’t going to agree with some of the selections or positions but remember this is MY list, if you have different views that’s cool but all I ask is that my joints be respected…also I know he has dropped a lot of shit since I made this blog thus there would be many changes anyways so maybe I will add another day to it and highlight another 5 of his releases from over the past year
